General Advising Information for Undergraduates

Freshman Advising - All students with less than 24 credit hours applied towards the BSBA degree program are to meet with an advisor in the CBPA Office of Undergraduate Advising, Constant Hall room 1011.

Transfer Advising - All incoming transfer students must attend Transfer Preview to receive a transcript evaluation and have the advising block removed before registering for courses.Preview is a one-day event for transfer students where the CBPA Office of Undergraduate Advising gives transfer students a presentation on the details of what earning a BSBA entails, provides students with an opportunity to meet with an advisor with a transcript evaluation and register for courses.Regardless of transferred hours, all incoming transfer students must attend Preview.Students required to attend Preview are recommended to attend the earliest Preview possible to ensure an easier class registration process.To register for Preview, visit the Preview/Orientation website, ( http://secure.visualzen.com/odu/orientation/).

Change of Majors - All students coming from the College of Arts and Letters, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, or Sciences must meet with an advisor in the CBPA Office of Undergraduate Advising, Constant Hall room 1011 before proceeding to the faculty advisors.This is to ensure the student follows the proper procedures within the college for declaring their majors along with understanding college specific requirements.

Sophomore and Junior Advising - Students with 24-80 credit hours applied towards the BSBA degree program are to meet with their assigned faculty advisor.An updated list of faculty advisors can be located either just outside the CBPA Office of Undergraduate Advising, Constant Hall room 1011, or at (http://bpa.odu.edu/bpa/academics/advising/adv-facinfo2.shtml).

Senior Advising - Students with over 80 credit hours applied towards the BSBA degree program are to meet with an advisor in the CBPA Office of Undergraduate Advising, Constant Hall room 1011.Seniors will have two types of appointments.The first is a regular senior appointment.This is where the initial graduation evaluation of the transcript starts.This occurs at least one year prior to the expected graduation date.The second is the graduation senior appointment.This occurs in the semester prior to the expected graduation date.

Returning Students - All students returning from academic probation or suspension are to meet with are to meet with an advisor in the CBPA Office of Undergraduate Advising, Constant Hall room 1011.
