Q. When should I apply to the Ph.D. Program?

Q. When will I know about the admission decision from ODU?

We inform admitted students of our decision by May 30th.

Q. If my application is rejected, can I reapply to the Ph.D. program?

Yes, you can.

 

Q. If my application is rejected, can I get feedback on my application?

We cannot offer individual feedback on an application.

 

Q. What is the average GMAT scores of applicants who were admitted into the program?

For the batch of students that was admitted in 2006 the average GMAT was 670. The minimum acceptable score for GMAT is 600.

 

Q. Can I do a part time Ph.D.?

No, you cannot.  All our students are full time. 

 

Q. Does the ODU Ph.D. program offer financial aid to international students?

Financial aid is based on student merit regardless of national origin.  Financial aid in the form of research assistantships are offered for the first three years of the program.  After the third year, financial support involves teaching assistantships where the student is involved in assisting faculty in teaching undergraduate courses. 

 

Q. Does the financial aid continue till I finish my Ph.D.?

The College of Business supports students with research assistantships for the first three years.  After the third year, students are supported with teaching assistantships.  The departments make every effort to support students with teaching assistantships till they finish their Ph.D.  However, continued financial support is also based on an evaluation of the student's academic performance and progress in the Ph.D. program.

 

Q. Are students offered financial support for travel to present their research at conferences?

The college offers financial support for a student to attend one conference per year, provided the student has a paper accepted at the conference.

 

Q.  Is the admission criterion different if I am willing to finance my own Ph.D.?

No.
