Professor Filer joined the department of Economics in 1999. He teaches courses in the graduate program in economics, including International Finance, Advanced Macroeconomic Theory and Econometrics III. He also teaches Money and Banking at the undergraduate level and is the director of the Old Dominion University Fed Challenge Team.
Professor Filer received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Kentucky in August of 1999. He received his B.A. in Economics from Westminster College (PA) in 1995. His current research investigates the consumption and life-cycle implications of filing for personal bankruptcy. The purpose of the research is to examine the possible implications to households and creditors as a result of the Bankruptcy Reform A.
