J.Taylor Sims joined the Department of Business Administration in 1994 as Professor of Marketing and Dean of the College of Business and Public Administration, a position he held until July 2000 when he returned to the faculty to resume full-time teaching. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at the MBA level in marketing management, strategic marketing, and buyer behavior. He has published four books in the field and over 50 articles and papers in such journals as the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Retailing, and the Internaltional Marketing Review. His current research interests are in the areas of strategic marketing, buyer behavior and internet marketing.

Professor Sims received his Ph.D in Marketing from the University of Illinois in 1970 and B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Texas Tech University in 1961 and 1963 respectively. He is a Certified Marketing Executive(CME). Prior to his appointment at Old Dominion University, Professor Sims served as Interim President and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Cleveland State University from 1990-1994, Dean of the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at Memhpis State University from 1985-1990, Dean of the College of Business at Bradley University from 1979-1985. He also previously had faculty appointments at Wright State University and the University of South Carolina and was a Vice-President for the Market Research Corporation of America in Chicago before entering university teaching.
