Professional and Continuing Education

The Institute focuses on the professional continuing education needs of area public agencies and private business employees who comprise the maritime and logistics communities.  Seminar topics have included the U.S. Department of Transportation International Border-Crossing Study; International Vessel Traffic and Information Systems; and International Port Technology and Commerce in the Year 2007.  These seminars attracted many nationally and internationally distinguished participants.

Maritime, Ports and Logistics Management Certificate

A Maritime, Ports and Logistics Management Certificate Program is available for individuals who wish to study the maritime, port and logistics courses without applying for degree status in the M.B.A. or M.P.A. programs.  Certificates of Completion are issued to successful graduates.  The certificate is a 12 credit hour program. 

 Prerequisite:  BS/BA degree

Non-degree status for Maritime, Port and Logistics Certificate

For students who want to take the courses for the Certificate in Maritime, Port and Logistics Certificate.

• Students must submit the non-degree application, a $50 fee, In-State Tuition Request, and undergraduate transcripts.
• Allows students to take the PORT courses for the certificate but not core MBA classes.

Please go to http://admissions.odu.edu/nondegree.php for the Non-Degree Entry form.  It can be filled out and submitted online or printed and mailed.  This form will be processed and you will receive an email with your University ID Number and how to access LeoOnline.  You should be able to register for PORT courses on LeoOnline.   There is a $50 non-refundable fee for attending ODU as a Non-Degree student.  

Please note that you must maintain good standing status even in non-degree, which is a GPA of 3.0 or better; or be subject to academic probation and / or suspension.
